What is the Deaf Ministry?
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
Romans 10:13-14
Those who serve within the Deaf Ministry share a common call that God has placed on their hearts. It is a desire to reach the unsaved deaf, to share the Gospel of Christ and to teach God's Word in a language understood by the Deaf alone: ASL (American Sign Language). The deaf culture is an isolated culture – a barely touched community when it comes to evangelism, where only a handful of people are willing to go. It is the goal of any Deaf Ministry to reach this community with the saving grace offered through our Lord and Savior.
The CEFC Deaf Ministry was established about seven years ago, and consists of a very small team of interpreters. Normally a team of two will interpret the 10:45 a.m. service in the main Worship Center. Those relying on an interpreted service sit on the right hand side of the church in the front or second row. During major events, such as Christmas Programs, we switch and interpret the Saturday evening service. If you have an interest in serving within the ministry or simply need information, please contact Pastor Jason Martin (

Are there other Deaf Ministry events offered at CEFC?
On Sunday mornings, during the 9 a.m. hour, an interpreted ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship) class is offered to the deaf and hard of hearing. The class is lead by Kevin Dumpe in room F 101.
Also, about three times a year, a Deaf Ministry Luncheon is planned for those who attend CEFC, friends within the community and the Deaf Ministry Team. It is a wonderful time to gather, worship and fellowship with one another.
